Employee Timetables

The employee timetable contained vital information that an employee needed about the physical characteristics of the territory that he worked. Penn Central periodically issued a new timetable for each division, and here are some examples. Click on the links for a picture of the front cover of each timetable:

Note: The New Haven Region No. 26 was issued in the same large format as former New Haven employee timetables were. A couple of months later, it was revised into standard PC format, and a new timetable was issued--New Haven Region No. 1 of April 27, 1969.

Training materials

Penn Central had "Railroading With Penn Central" books of self-training courses for conductors, firemen, and engineers. One set covered signals and what they mean. These books had three holes punched on the left side and fit into a plastic "Railroading With Penn Central" binder. For some reason, there was no Book One. PC also produced versions of the same books that were stapled, with no black binder tape or punched holes.
