NEW YORK CONNECTING RAILROAD SOCIETY, INC

The New York Connecting Railroad Society (NYCR) was founded in 1993. The
Society's goal is to preserve the history and memory of this 10 mile
property that formed a vital link in the northeast rail network from
World War I to the present day.

The New York Connecting Railroad extends from Port Morris crossing in
the Bronx, just south of Oak Point Yard, to Fremont Tower at Fresh Pond
Junction in Glendale, Queens. A segment connects the route over the
mighty Hell Gate Bridge (East River Arch Bridge) to the Pennsylvania
Railroad's Sunnyside Yards in Long Island City. A branch extends from
Fresh Pond to Brooklyn, terminating at the 65th Street Float Bridges.
The NYCR was jointly owned by the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New
Haven Railroad, and was operated exclusively by the latter. It is
currently utilized by CSX, Amtrak, New York & Atlantic Railway,
Providence and Worcester, Canadian Pacific, and LIRR.
